OLD ROCK

This is the spare cartoon from the other weeks caption contest. Looking back, maybe this one is better. Any way. You may as well see it, as it's just gathering dust inside my hard drive.

Sardonic Salad.

Normally I'm not that keen on salad, but this interesting blog, Sardonic Salad, is an exception. It's packed full of gag cartoons. Some are groaners, a few I don't understand and some are really excellent. The point is, even if you don't like the current cartoon, it's updated regularly, so it's always worth another visit to find those gems. And there's lots of gems within this cartoon blog.

Chad Isely and Kit Lowrance put this all together.

Anthropomorphic themes a plenty. Onions, Lettuce, fridge contents and talking teapots will be found on this cartoon blog.

If this blog was waiting for a prize on bullseye it would get the speed boat AND the Mini Metro to tow it! ( probably a talking speedboat)

Get out you evil troll!

Latest entry in the caption contest. I don't like it. But there it is.

A new old cartoon.

This is this weeks entry in the caption contest. It's also the first drawing I've done with the Cintiq. Well, it's not THE first, but I won't show you the other 327 drawings before this one, as they aren't the best. Slowly getting used to working exclusively digitally. A few issue with my computer set up. Didn't realise I needed two VGA/DVI outputs from my graphics card, so I'm going to have to do something I don't normally do and get inside the computer to install a dual output GPU.

The contest was set by last week's winner, Mr Steve Bright. The theme was simply 'old'. After the anticipation of waiting for the Cintiq to arrive, I quickly realised that it's just a tool. A rather splendid tool, but I still need to come up with the ideas in just the same way as before. At one point I was tempted to sketch out a few ideas with a pencil and paper - but that would be a backward step.

It's a long story.

This week's entry in the caption contest. Could be the last paper cartoon that I draw, if my Cintiq ever escapes from Germany. So next week's wobbly cartoon, is not a change in style - it's just me getting used to the Cintiq, and because it cost so much money refusing to draw anything the old fashioned way.

For the second week in a row, I've been topical. This isn't a requirement of the contest. The caption is set, and away we go with whatever pops up, but I changed the title of the book several times, until I found one that I think works. Of course, as last week, some of the topical stuff can get lost, if the voters aren't aware of the story.

If anyone would like to buy a handful of used pencils, half used PITT pens, and a big pack of nice smooth copier paper, just let me know!

HMRC PAYE Cartoon.

This week's entry in the cartoonist forum contest. Last week I was the honoured winner of a crackjack gel pen. I have no idea why. The cartoon was crap - that wasn't the mystery. Unusually, this week's cartoon is topical. Cutting edge topical, as I was struggling for ideas when listening to this mornings news on the Radio. The HMRC have buggered up lots of people's PAYE tax payments. Some will have to pay back an average of £1,500, some will get rebates. All being blamed on a new computer system, which is supposed to make tax payments more accurate! Well that's a detailed explanation of the joke. You must be rolling around by now.

Here's this weeks cartoony blog of goodness. It's from Tim Leatherbarrows, and is a cartoon blog, but also a cartoon blog with lots of wordy bits. Like:

"Remember, "Careless talk costs lives". I, for one am going to be watching what i'm saying the next time the neighbours have a cocktail party."

And such gems as:

"If anyone out there is flying over the Atlantic just keep a look out for a lean tall guy with an art portfolio in a dinghy"

But it also has some rather splendid cartoons, which seem to be mostly caricatures on topical news items.

The blog is updated regularly, with quick and topical cartoons. Visit it now. BadMadnInky
